IT and Computer Recycling
and Disposal
Are you a local business looking for a reliable, secure IT and tech recycling and disposal service?
IT Recycling and Disposal
If you are looking to have your hard drives professionally destroyed and recycled then we are here to help you.
We use 2 types of destruction, for most of the hard drives which are below 1TB then they are destroyed using a hydraulic ram with a spike and it presses the spike through the hard drive and punches a huge hole and renders it unusable and impossible to retrieve information from the hard drive. The hard drive is then recycled for the precious metals inside such as palladium. If the hard drive is 1TB or higher then we wipe these and use a data wiping process which makes the hard drive unusable.
We believe in re-using all IT equipment when possible, but if you prefer for the hard drive to be destroyed using the spike then please tell us and we will ensure this is done.
Computer Disposal and Recycling
We can collect and recycle all types of PC towers and laptops. When we collect your computer or laptop for recycling, we will remove the hard drive and destroy it using our own on-site hard drive destroyer which can render any hard drive unusable. This process is completed back at our warehouse due to needing small tools to remove covers and physically remove the hard drive from the tower or laptop. Surprisingly this process can take longer than you would think due to the complexity of how PC’s and laptops are built.
General tech recycling
If you would like to take advantage of our basic IT recycling service, then we can collect your old IT equipment and old computers at the same time as your confidential shredding bags, boxes or full wheelie bins. We can recycle all types of used old IT office equipment such as computers, POS equipment, printers scanners, till points, telephone systems and TFT monitors, along with all types of old cabling.
E-Waste Sack
If you have smaller electronic waste to recycle then we can supply our e-waste sacks. All electronic waste disposal is priced separately but the sack keeps your waste together and secure while it’s in your office and also while in transit to our warehouse for sorting, destroying and recycling. The sack comes with a security tag so you can secure the sack.
How does our recycling service work?
We arrive with a professional vehicle and load your old electronics into our van, complete the necessary paperwork and bring it back to our warehouse. Here we remove the hard drives for destruction and then segregate the different IT recycling streams. The different recycling components are collected by specialist IT recyclers who break the items down further to extract the valuable metals and the non-valuable items such as plastics and metals are melted down for reuse.
Statistics on E-waste
We produce around 6KG of electronic equipment for every human on the planet. Globally, only around 17% of tech waste is recycled, so a staggering 83% of old IT equipment goes to waste. There are potentially many tons of gold, palladium and other precious metals that could be recycled and it would help save destroying our planet.
There’s an estimated total of 350 million tons of unrecycled e-waste buried. We need to do more to recycle our old electronic equipment, whether that is recycling for components or repaired and re-used. We always try to repair and offer for reuse all the items we collect but unfortunately they become out-dated very quickly.
In the UK, we generate around 6 million tons of old e-waste annually – recycling only around 30%. So that means we do not recycle 70% of our electronic waste. Some 4.2million tons of tech gets disposed of in landfill or simply scrapped and not salvaged for re-use. The average UK home owns 25 electronic devices and around 20% of these are unused. We humans are like magpies and we love shiny new objects. We buy the latest device even though our old tech can be updated. That is capitalism and big businesses pushing us to buy new as much as possible. Our computer and tech disposal process prioritises recycling and reuse where we can without compromising security of your data.
